The Beauty Bank

I recently treated myself to a lovely day of relaxation at my local beauty parlor. This is my ‘go-to’ place for hair, waxing, facials and pre-holidaying sunbeds.

I always enjoy seeing the ladies here, it’s not just that the products and results are fabulous- it is the fact that the ladies themselves are lovely and offer a personal service that can often be forgotten about at other establishments nowadays. I wanted to share a little bit about The Beauty Bank and my splendid day of relaxation.

I first started going to The Beauty Bank several years ago when I was looking for a new hairdresser. I had started to feel the service at my usual hairdressers was slipping- in quality and in general manner too. I felt the colour was patchy and I had noticed there was a build-up towards the ends of my hair. The general service i had become accustomed to- like being offered a drink, trying to keep my hairline tidy so I didn’t have dye down my face and even remembering my name, disappeared.

The girl who always did my hair was polite enough, but I just felt for what I was paying and the results i was receiving, it wasn’t worth the money. It was a very small space, with a very loud radio and it was a bit like musical chairs for us clients, as they tried to squeeze extra customers in. I get it was a small business and they were trying to maximize their profits and make a buck, just like the rest of us… but their standards and clients suffered. I was wanting a service, not just a cut and colour. An experience. Which I wasn’t getting, so I chose to take my business elsewhere.

I had noticed The Beauty Bank when it first opened- it looked bright, clean and professional, but I felt loyalty to my regular salon and so stayed there until standards dipped. When I did call in to The Beauty Bank, I was first greeted by Elaine, the hairdresser. She was really polite and friendly and I instantly knew I wanted to book-in with her.

The entrance to The Beauty Bank opens in to the main area, consisting of the nail bar, front desk and hairdressers quarters. It is immaculate and extremely well presented. It’s bright and airy with high ceilings and plenty of space. A corridor at the rear leads on to the beauty treatment rooms, sunbed room and toilet. All areas are very well maintained and hygienic. It has a modern, clean, calming feel with a touch of class.

Elaine talked me through the colours she uses and looked at the condition of my hair and advised the plan of action she thought would work best. I chose a colour and she did a spot test prior to my first appointment. My first cut and colour was lovely- my hair felt renewed. Elaine curled it and styled it for me, it looked so lush and big and beautiful. I was thrilled and have been going there ever since.

From going to see Elaine, I inquired about the other treatments on offer and am now a regular with Sue, the beautician. She takes care of all of my waxing and facials. Vicki is the nail technician and from what I gather, the driving force behind The Beauty Bank. I’ve never had my nails done before (ever!) so I can’t talk from personal experience, but I understand that Vicki’s work is always highly sought after and the ladies having their nails done when I’m there are always extremely happy and their nails look beautiful.

On this particular day I had booked in with Sue first, for a facial. She remembers previous conversations and is a very genuine lady. She uses Tropic Skincare products for her facials- all natural ingredients with plenty of goodies for your skin. The lights were low, soft relaxing music was playing in the background, the steamer was going and Sue began my facial… I was in heaven.

Sue incorporates a wonderfully relaxing neck, shoulder, upper chest, arm and hand massage in to the facial, which really is just bliss. All of the tensions and knots melted away- Sue has magic hands! I was completely zoned out and totally relaxed by the time she had finished. So much so that I couldn’t string a sentence together and needed a few minutes to come round! The facial was well constructed- everything flowed beautifully and it didn’t feel rushed at all. Definitely value for money. My skin felt bright and refreshed and I felt as though I was floating.

From there, I was booked in with Elaine for my full colour and cut. Again, Elaine remembers conversations from weeks ago, chats away when I want to talk- but she also has a sixth sense and knows when I want to drift off a little and relax. I am her number one priority and focus whilst in her chair, plenty of tea and coffees are offered and she checks regularly that I’m OK and comfortable and I never feel rushed, ever.

My absolute favorite part when having my hair done, is having it washed by someone else. Elaine always gives me a cheeky head massage and today was no exception. I loved it. I could have easily sat there for hours.

I’m always really impressed with my cut, colour and styling when Elaine has finished. My hair looked beautiful and I felt like a film star. When I left, everyone made a point to say thank you and a cheery, friendly goodbye. As always.

Would highly recommend

With much love,
