The Flower Pot Coffee Shop

My husband and I first went to our local garden centre at Christmastime a few years back. With my festive obsession, I just love looking around garden centres at Christmas, admiring the tree decorations and light displays. It just fills my soul with pure joy. After that we would pop in maybe once or twice throughout the year to browse the flowers. We had noticed there was a cafe on the premises, but never ventured in. I’m not sure when we first called in, I think it was just for a coffee and a cheeky cakey after being out and about one day. Thank goodness we did, because since then I would safely say we are regulars!

On a weekend when we are having  a little potter, we’ll often call in to The Flower Pot Coffee Shop. It’s a sweet little cafe situated right in the heart of the garden centre. The tables are covered with cute oil cloth tablecloths and old fashioned gardening equipment and curios from the past are dotted around and suspended from the ceiling. The front is open to the general garden centre, with some trellis put up at the end of the tables for some privacy. It doesn’t feel exposed at all and we’ve never felt imposed on by the shoppers in the garden centre.

You order your meal at the front counter and collect your own cutlery and napkins, etc from a well presented little stand. It’s well staffed and they are all very polite and helpful. We’ve never had any issues whatsoever.

We nearly always go for a Full English. My husband has tea and I have a mocha. The pricing is very reasonable- especially when you take in to account the quality of the produce used and the portion size. Decent sized sausages of a farm shop quality, bacon, mushrooms, beans, plum tomatoes and toast. The breakfast does usually come with eggs too- but I’m not a fan of eggs, so always ask to have them left off mine.

Occasionally we’ll take a dessert as well. That is very occasionally, because we are usually too full after our fry to even consider a cakey. Sometimes we have it in us though 😉 The slice of cake is to a generous portion and again, the standard of product and flavour is very high. Certainly value for money. I have had a couple of different meals here over the years and I’ve never been disappointed…. The Full English does always call me back though!

Would definitely recommend

With much love,
